New flying place discovered: Gura Bohotin

If you are a paragliding pilot from Iasi you shouldn't miss this place. On the way from Iasi to Husi, near Gura Bohotin there is a very long hill on the right side of the road. This hill is well suited for NE wind.

New flying place at Movileni

We found a new hill at Movileni, near Larga Jijia. This slope has almost 1.5 km in length and is facing N.

New flying place: Rosu, near Cozia, Iasi

We discovered a new flying place this Spring in Iasi county, between Cozia and Rosu. The slope is shallow with many bushes, however it has good potentials for thermals.

SE facing hill found !

The lack of a flying place for SE wind is one of the biggest hurdles for Iasi paragliding pilots. Needless to add is the fact that SE wind has become increasingly common in recent years. The only solution in such situations was going to the mountains which means a 200+ km journey. After a constant searching over the years for a closer solution we finally found this hill near Boistea village in Neamt County. This hill is situated at 110 km from Iasi and could be easily reached by car; the entire road is paved up to Boistea and continues with a very short country road that leads up to the site of takeoff.

We arrived quite late at the scene and the wind was very weak; at the base it was virtually nil wind, however rustling trees could be seen at the summit. As we noticed latter, that was enough to get us airborne and realized that the slope was soarable.

First flight near Frenciugi village

Our paraglider pilots were in desperate need of a new hill for NW wind. Several places have been checked on maps and after preliminary selection on Google Earth we went on the field for a real test. A 550 m long ridge facing NW and situated East of Frenciugi village and NNE of Cazanesti lake was our priority target last Saturday. The 100 m high hill is composed of a smooth slope at base counting for 70 m in height and a steep ridge at top. Let's see how good it is for paragliding this hill near Frenciugi.
